Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration Contest
Celebrate Lincoln’s 200th birthday and win a prize! Lake Villa District Library cardholders in grades 3 through 12 are invited to write an essay or draw a story about Abe Lincoln. Top prizes will be $100 (grades 3-5), $200 (grades 6-8), and $300 (grades 9-12). Stop by the Adult or Youth Services desk for more information and to pick up entry forms. The contest ends January 18, 2009. The Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration Contest is sponsored by the Lake Villa District Library Foundation.

The Lake Villa District Library Foundation will work to diversify the funding base of the Lake Villa District Library by broadening the base of support for operational, capital and programmatic needs through philanthropy.

Vision Statement
Build philanthropic capital for the Lake Villa District Library by beginning and maintaining long-term fund raising programs to provide support for operational, capital and programmatic needs.

Change the organizational culture of the Lake Villa District Library to a diversified funding model from a majority public tax funding model through education and communication.

Develop a compelling case for support which will motivate philanthropic support of the Lake Villa District Library.

Encourage the development of value-added library programs and services through targeted fund raising programs.
