The Lake Villa District Library has a great selection of new releases as well as foreign, independent, and classic Hollywood films. We also have a wide variety of informational films and popular television shows.
Here are some tips for searching for movies in our catalog:
To search for a movie in either DVD or VHS format:
In the Search box, type the name of the movie, the word and, and the word videorecording. Select the default words or phrase option in the dropdown menu.
Example: sound of music and videorecording
To search for a movie in only one format:
In the Search box, type the name of the movie, the word and, and the word DVD or VHS.
Example: sound of music and DVD
To search for a movie by actor or director:
In the Search box, type the name of the actor or director (last, first), and select author from the dropdown menu.
You can combine search options to limit your results further.
Example: andrews, julie and DVD
… will return a list of all of the DVDs that the library owns in which Julie Andrews was featured.
Can't find what you're looking for? If we don't own it, we may be able to get it through interlibrary loan, or we can look into adding it to our collection.
