BookArt Contest 2016

What is the theme for this year’s contest? This year we’re inviting kids to take a picture of their pets (or stuffed animals) “enjoying” a good book!

Who can enter the contest? Kids ages 5 through 12. The contest is divided into the following age categories: 5- to 6-year-olds, 7- to 9-year-olds, and 10- to 12-year-olds.

How do I enter? There are a few simple guidelines:

1. Each person may enter up to 2 different photos. Photos can be printed on regular paper (no photos larger than 8-1/2 x 11). Please note, photos will not be returned.

2. Please cut and fill out the entry form(s) and tape one to the back of each photo entered—again, you can enter up to 2 different photos.

3. You may include people in your photo(s), too, but make sure you have their permission.

When can I enter? Photos can be turned in at the Youth Services Desk from October 1-31.

How will the contest be judged? Local art teachers will select 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place winners for each age category, as well as an overall “Best in Show” winner.

When will the winners be announced? Winners will be contacted in early November.

Will my photo(s) be displayed at the library? Yes! Each child who enters the contest will have his or her photo(s) displayed in the Youth Services Department. With parents’/guardians’ permission, we will publicize the winning photos on the library’s website and social media (including only children’s first names and ages online) and in a press release issued to local newspapers.

What are the awards? 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place winners in each age category will each receive a ribbon. The “Best in Show” winner will receive a ribbon and a keepsake photo album.
