Downloading Magazines FAQ

What is Zinio?
Zinio is a commercial service that sells access to digital magazines. Through a contract with one of our vendors, we are able to offer a selection of Zinio’s magazines to our patrons.

It'd be awesome if you had my favorite magazine. Can you get it?
Maybe. Let us know what it is, and we’ll try.

How do I read a magazine that I’ve borrowed?
There are two ways to read a magazine

1) In a compatible web browser

2) Using the Zinio for Libraries App. This is best for reading on the go.The Zinio app is available for Android, iOS, and Kindle Fire. You can get the Android or iOS from your app marketplace. The app is a read only application. You must go to our website first to borrow magazines from our collection.

How do I delete a magazine from my device?
Go into your Zinio library on the Zinio app and click the edit button. Click the "X" on each magazine to remove it.

Does Zinio cost anything?
Not for you. Anyone with a Lake Villa District Library card can read and download the magazines available through our Zinio collection.

What if someone has already checked out a magazine I want?
Doesn’t matter! Zinio magazines are simultaneous multi-access, which is library slang that means everyone can read them at once.

Can I check out more than 1 magazine at a time?
Please do. You can check out as many as you want.

Can I check out back issues?
Yes. We have back issues starting from the time we subscribed to the magazine.  Click a cover to see them.

How long is the checkout period?
As long as you want. Your magazines won’t be removed until you delete them.

Can I use the library’s collection if I already have a Zinio account?
Yes. Sign up for a library account, and make sure to use the same email address as your Zinio account.
