BookArt Annual Contest for Kids
If it's fall, it's time for the BookArt Annual Contest for Kids! Here's all the information for this year's contest:
What is the theme for this year’s contest? This year we’re inviting kids to take a picture of their pets (or stuffed animals) “enjoying” a good book!
Who can enter the contest? Kids ages 5 through 12. The contest is divided into the following age categories: 5- to 6-year-olds, 7- to 9-year-olds, and 10- to 12-year-olds.
How do I enter? There are a few simple guidelines:
1. Each person may enter up to 2 different photos. Photos can be printed on regular paper (no photos larger than 8x11). Please note, photos will not be returned.
2. Please print out the entry form(s), cut and fill them out, and tape one to the back of each photo entered—again, you can enter up to 2 different photos.
3. You may include people in your photo(s), too—but make sure you have their permission. A photo release form must be completed for each person photographed. If you need a release form, ask at the Youth Services Desk or download a copy here.
When can I enter? Photos with completed entry forms taped to the back can be turned in at the Youth Services Desk from October 1-31.
How will the contest be judged? Local art teachers will select 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place winners for each age category, as well as an overall “Best in Show” winner.
Will my photo be displayed at the library? Yes! Each child who enters the contest will have his or her photo(s) displayed on the bulletin board at the entrance to the Youth Services Department. Winning photo(s) also will be displayed on our website and social media, see below.
When and how will the winners be announced? Winners will be contacted by phone in early November. With parents’/guardians’ permission, we will publicize the winning photos on the library’s website and social media (including only children's first names and ages online) and in a press release issued to local newspapers.
What are the awards? 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place winners in each age category will each receive a ribbon. The “Best in Show” winner will receive a ribbon and a keepsake photo album.
