Teachers, Check Out A View to a Caudill!
Attention 4th through 8th grade teachers! Make us your source for Caudill resources this year. We have launched a new program, A View to a Caudill—an online resource for individual Caudill nominees. This month we're featuring The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Access our Glog here for our two-part book discussion podcast, access to interviews with the author, book discussion questions and more!
Did you know the Lake Villa District Library offers free CPDU workshops for educators? We cover all kinds of interesting topics throughout the school year. Check back for our next workshop!

Power Hour: Online Teacher Tools
During this workshop, we introduced a collection of free, online resources. Not all of the sites are intended specifically for educators, but they all have potential value for the classroom – sites for math games, reference resources, primary source sites for social studies, science resources, literature connections and more. If you have a few minutes to check out the collection, this is the link to the Symbaloo site where all of the sites are listed.
Web 2.0 Resources for Educators
This wiki includes links to the Web 2.0 resources that we shared in the April 2012 and December 2010 Tech Boot Camp workshops.
Teaming Up Fiction with Nonfiction
This Spicy Nodes resource provides information about why teachers would want to pair up fiction with nonfiction, how to go about brainstorming to make connections, and a listing of suggestions pairs by curricular topic.
The Red Carpet of Awards
The wiki introduces resources for awards in children’s literature including awards from ALA, various education associations, and the Illinois student choice awards.
Classroom Connection/School Card
Planning a special assignment or unit? Let us help! We offer two ways to bring library resources into your classroom:
Classroom Connection bags include library materials selected to support your curriculum.
- The School Card gives you the flexibility to immediately check out items you choose from our shelves.
