Library to Host COVID-19 Vaccine Drop-in Clinic

Lake Villa District Library and the Lake County Health Department are partnering to provide a COVID-19 vaccine drop-in clinic on Saturday, August 14, noon – 4:30pm. 

Individuals 12 and older (minors require parental consent) can receive the Johnson and Johnson vaccine or the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.  Personal Protective Equipment will be available. No appointment needed, drop-in at any time noon – 4:30pm. 

Please note, LVDL asks everyone over two years of age, regardless of vaccine status, to wear a face mask when visiting the library. 

Library Partnership Sponsors Domestic Thriller Night

Bestselling authors Megan Miranda and Shari Lapena will discuss their new books, Such a Quiet Place and Not a Happy Family, at a virtual program on Thursday, August 12 at 7pm.  Registration is required.

Miranda’s Such a Quiet Place is described as the perfect summer beach read that will leave you wondering---do you ever really know your neighbors? Lapena’s Not a Happy Family has it all: rich people behaving badly, sibling rivalry and a few murders. In this family, everyone---including the dead--- are keeping secrets. 

Library Board Approves Real Estate Contract for Grand Avenue Building

The Lake Villa District Library Board of Trustees approved the contract for the former library building at 1001 E. Grand Avenue, Lake Villa following an open bid process.  Grace Community Bible Church (currently of Grayslake) purchased the property for $1,250,000 with a closing date of September 30, 2021. 

“Selling the former library building was always a part of our plan,” said Library Director, Mikael Jacobsen. “We are pleased to sell the building and wish Pastor Mike Bryant and his congregation all the best.” 

Library Partnership Celebrates Audiobook Month with Award-Winning Narrator Julia Whelan

In celebration of Audiobook Month, Highland Park Public Library and Lake Villa District Library have joined forces to bring award-winning narrator Julia Whelan to their communities on Monday, June 7, at 7pm.  The program will be held virtually on Zoom and registration is required.
