Facility Assistant – Part-Time

LVDL is seeking enthusiastic, experienced part-time Facility Assistants to join our team. The Facility Assistants will report directly to the Facility Manager and will be responsible for routine cleaning and light building maintenance tasks, closing and securing the facility, and providing back-up assistance to the Facility Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Performs routine daily cleaning of facility including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning floors, windows, bathrooms, emptying trash/recycling receptacles, etc.
  • Monitors and ensures facility and grounds are clean and attractive
  • Monitors library for safety concerns and secures and alarms/disarms building
  • Performs grounds keeping tasks including removal of snow and ice and application of salt and other duties to maintain the safety and appearance of the facility and grounds

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18
  • Custodial experience preferred
  • Experience with various maintenance tools and equipment
  • Valid driver’s license, proper vehicle insurance and access to transportation
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours

Position Details

Status: Part-Time, Non-exempt, 10-15 hours per week
Schedule: Regular evening and weekend availability is required.  Schedule includes late afternoon/weeknight shifts, Saturday and/or Sunday hours
Salary: $16.38/hr. BOQ, plus benefits
Starting: As soon as possible

Adult Services Outreach Librarian/Specialist – Full-Time

Lake Villa District Library is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and engaging Outreach Librarian/Specialist to build relationships and work within the community to connect people with library services.

This newly created position will play an integral part of LVDL’s Strategic Plan of intentionally cultivating meaningful relationships throughout the community. The Outreach Librarian/Specialist will collaborate with staff and community partners to identify under-served populations, spearhead community improvement opportunities through collective impact efforts, and develop innovative ways to deliver outreach experiences that engage, delight, and educate.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others, the ability to foster positive relationships, and the acumen to understand and balance varying community interests. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a compassionate and friendly demeanor are a must.

Knowledge of the Lake Villa Township Community is a definite plus!

The Outreach Librarian/Specialist will provide direct public service support by providing reference, readers advisory, catalog assistance, and collection development.

This position reports to the Head of Adult Services and will work closely with other members of the Adult Services team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • MLIS or equivalent masters’ degree from an American Library Association accredited program preferred.
  • Minimum three years public library experience.
  • Experience in community outreach and developing community partnerships.
  • Ability to speak other languages desired.
  • Ability to work daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
  • Access to transportation.

Hours

Full-time - Exempt, 37.5 hours/week. Schedule includes regular weekday hours (including 1-2 evenings) and weekend hours on a rotational basis and as needed.

Salary & Benefits

Offers are made based on skills and experience between the minimum and mid-point of the full salary range: $46,241-$57,802. Full range: $46,241-$69,362. Full benefit package including: medical, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance; participation in Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension plan; paid vacation, holidays, floating holidays, personal leave, sick leave, and recently added benefit of paid parental leave.

Assistant Circulation Manager – Full-Time

Lake Villa District Library (LVDL) is seeking a full-time Assistant Circulation Manager with strong supervisory, communication and customer service skills to join our team.

Our ideal candidate enjoys interacting with others, handling challenging situations, and leading with patience and empathy. They know how to foster a team environment and encourage collaboration. The ability to juggle a variety of projects and priorities and view these tasks through a patron focused lens is a must.

The Assistant Circulation Manager will assist with all staff related operations; hiring, training, scheduling and supervising. In addition, this position will provide strategic customer service goals for staff to develop and implement.

This position reports to the Head of Circulation Services and will collaborate closely with Circulation staff as well as staff from other departments.
