Adult Services Collection Development Librarian

Lake Villa District Library (LVDL) is seeking a savvy, enthusiastic and experienced librarian to provide a strong emphasis on collection development for the Adult Services Department. It’s an exciting time at LVDL, as we look forward to moving into a new building in the not-too-distant future.  We need someone to bring a strategic focus to shaping the direction of the Adult Services collection.

From developing new collections both virtual and physical; to evaluating how best to deploy current collections; to promotion and merchandising ... this job offers a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about how to best provide a wide array of materials for the library’s many patrons. Other responsibilities include providing direct customer service support to the public through reference, reader’s advisory, and catalog assistance.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in and a passion for collection development; an affinity for using statistics to help drive and evaluate collection development efforts; and experience with online collection development tools. We’re looking for someone with creativity, excellent interpersonal skills, and a very healthy sense of humor!

This position reports to the Head of Adult Services and will collaborate closely with Adult Services staff as well as staff in other departments.
