Library Hires Hitchcock Design Group To Develop Outdoor Space

The Lake Villa District Library Board of Trustees hired Hitchcock Design Group to create a plan to utilize the library’s outdoor spaces. Ten design firms submitted proposals for the project and three were chosen to give presentations to the board.  Following a competitive interview process Hitchcock was selected.  “All three firms were impressive,” said library board president Doug Nieman, “it was not an easy decision.”

Friends of Lake Villa District Library to Offer Three Scholarships

The Friends of Lake Villa District Library will award three $1,000 scholarships to qualifying high school seniors graduating in 2022.  Applicants must reside in Lake Villa Township and plan to pursue a two or four-year degree at any accredited vocational school, junior college or university.

Scholarship applications are available at www.lvdl.org/about/friends and will be shared with local high school guidance counselors. 

Suburban Chicago Libraries Host Public Event With TIME100 “Most Influential” Author

Cathy Park Hong will discuss her bestselling book, Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning, in a virtual conversation with Monica Eng, a reporter for Axios, at 7 pm Thursday, November 4 via Zoom. The book has been called “a ruthlessly honest, emotionally charged, and utterly original exploration of Asian American consciousness.”
