Lindenhurst, IL — Discover the art of printmaking through Ray Gossell’s Little Treasures exhibit, on display September 1–October 30 at Lake Villa District Library.

A retired high school art teacher and lifelong resident of Lake County, Gossell is passionate about his craft. “The magic of printmaking is that you start out with a flat surface and through manipulation of that surface, you create an image that can be printed or modified to your heart’s content.”

At its August 10, 2026 meeting, the Lake Villa District Library Board of Trustees voted to end notary services, effective January 1, 2027. Changes to notary law, increased demand and staffing constraints are the main reasons behind the decision.

“We saw a sharp increase in demand for notary services this year,” said Library Director Mick Jacobsen. “Staff conducted more than 800 transactions, and with the changes to notary law, staff no longer felt comfortable taking on the responsibility of being a notary.”

Lindenhurst, IL — Throughout July and August, visitors to Lake Villa District Library can experience the artistry of Sinéad Carus, a self-taught artist who focuses on illustration, surface pattern design, and photography. Her exhibit, Irish Roots, is meant to inspire emotion, nostalgia, and hope.
